Training
Basic Life Support and AED
The Basic Life Support and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) course equips individuals with the knowledge and confidence to act quickly and effectively in the event of a cardiac arrest. This 4-hour course is designed for groups who have, or may have, access to an AED.
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is a vital life-saving skill used when someone’s heart stops, whether due to a heart attack, drowning, electric shock, or serious injury. Acting quickly can make the difference between life and death. When combined with the use of an AED, survival chances can increase significantly.
AEDs are simple to operate and can be used by anyone, with no prior training. However, training employees in how to use an AED will make sure they are familiar with the device, so they are able to act quickly and confidently when it really counts.
By the end of this training participants will able to:
- Recognise life-threatening situations.
- Offer vital assistance before more experienced help arrives.
- Provide single-person CPR on an adult, child and baby.
- Use the AED.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However, participants must be 18 years or older to attend.
