St John Ambulance and Rescue Expands the Youth Section to Madliena

St John Ambulance and Rescue is expanding its Cadet Programme with the launch of a new Youth Section in Madliena. After several years of successfully running a cadet group in the south of Malta, through its Paola- Tarxien division, this new initiative will provide young people aged 11 and above, in the central and northern part of the Island, with the opportunity to develop essential life-saving skills, build confidence, and engage in meaningful activities in a safe and supportive environment. Sessions will take place every Tuesday from 17:30 to 18:30 at Fort Madalena, Madliena.

The Cadet Programme is designed to equip young people with practical knowledge and hands-on experience. It includes first aid training, which leads to responding effectively in emergencies, a skill that could one day save a life. They will also learn important life skills, engage in global awareness activities, and take part in outdoor adventures such as camping and live-in experiences. The programme encourages teamwork, responsibility, and leadership, helping young people develop the confidence and abilities they will need in their future studies, careers, and daily lives.

All activities are supervised by experienced and qualified volunteers who are dedicated to creating a positive and safe learning environment. The sessions are structured to be both educational and enjoyable, ensuring that cadets stay engaged while developing valuable skills. Through volunteering cadets gain a strong sense of community involvement and personal achievement.

As part of St John Ambulance and Rescue’s commitment to equipping as many individuals as possible with life-saving skills for a safer community, the Cadet Programme is designed to be inclusive and accessible to all. Participants engage in a variety of activities, including live-ins, camping trips, and outdoor adventures, where they develop essential skills, build friendships, and gain valuable experiences. The programme offers young people the opportunity to grow, learn, and contribute positively to society in a supportive and engaging environment. The new cadet group in Madliena is open to all young people aged 11 and above who are eager to learn, grow, and make a difference.
