From 21st to 27th May 2015, the St John Rescue Corps proudly hosted a multinational training camp in Malta as part of the EU Civil Protection Exchange of Experts Programme. The week-long programme welcomed members from six international humanitarian and rescue organisations, all actively involved in civil protection and large-scale emergency response.

Participating organisations included:
- Water Police Konstanz
- Malteser Hilfsdienst e.V. Konstanz
- DLRG (German Life Saving Association) Konstanz
- Fire Department Konstanz
- Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) Konstanz & Singen
- Fire Department Austria
Throughout the camp, participants engaged in hands-on training sessions and expert-led discussions, sharing best practices and operational techniques used during medium to large-scale incidents, including major international emergencies such as the Nepal Earthquake. The programme created a platform for collaboration, cross-border learning, and the strengthening of technical rescue capabilities.
In addition to the training exercises, participants also visited key Maltese emergency response agencies, including the Civil Protection Department, the Armed Forces of Malta’s Maritime Squadron, and the AFM Air Wing, gaining valuable insight into Malta’s national response infrastructure.

This initiative was fully funded by the EU Civil Protection Exchange of Experts Programme, reinforcing the importance of international cooperation and continuous learning within the humanitarian and rescue sectors.

The St John Rescue Corps remains committed to hosting and participating in such programmes, which contribute to stronger partnerships, enhanced training standards, and a shared commitment to protecting lives during emergencies.
